It's Past Your Breadtime!
Join me on my sourdough journey. My starter was passed down to me from my grandparents all the way from Cambridge, U.K. This particular starter is nearly 70 years old! I still use my grandmother's recipe however I've tweaked it a bit in order to accommodate the high elevation here in Denver, Colorado. This bread is healthy and delicious! You won't regret supporting your local baker with these loaves!

What is Sourdough?
How To Make Sourdough Starter from Scratch
by EMMA CHRISTENSEN
A sourdough starter is how we cultivate the wild yeast in a form that we can use for baking. Since wild yeast are present in all flour, the easiest way to make a starter is simply by combining flour and water and letting it sit for several days. You don’t need any fancy ingredients to “capture” the wild yeast or get it going — it’s already there in the flour.
